Candidates

It's May 14, 2024. New mayor Tom Dyas, elected based on his iron promise to save Kelowna Springs, has instantly increased his pay. Councillors pay was jacked by 35%. A councillor declined Dyas' grease.
"Kelowna city councillor Ron Cannan has declined a 35 per cent pay raise that would have lifted his salary from $43,000 to $58,000. “I believe citizens elected me to provide my viewpoint from over 40 years of business and political experience,” he said. “When I ran for council in 2022, I didn’t run based on the salary." Here.
“Most folks would like to be in a position to give themselves a 35 per cent wage increase,” Cannan said. “However, council is not self-employed. This is taxpayers’ hard-earned money.”
The depth of depravity of Tom Dyas and his minions is extreme. Hard core Khalistani interests are served daily while the interests of residents is sold out to connected developers. It isn't the exception in Kelowna, its the rule. Tom Dyas is more corrupt than his good friend and former mayor Basran, who was also a Khalistani shill. Kelowna Springs is a legacy project of Khalistani interests.
Ron Cannan's website is recommended. The October 17 election in Kelowna is a tipping point. Citizens cannot continue to let Tom Dyas and his Khalistani core control council.
Kelowna is being turned into a little Punjab, including open pollution and indifferent, paid-off politicians. It has to end.
Citizens in Kelowna need to step up to support Ron Cannan, and even more importantly, support new and improved councillors to back him to make the much needed changes.

Latest council candidate is Les Bellamy, who recently kicked off his campaign. Bellamy says his campaign will focus on safer neighbourhoods, affordability, responsible growth and accountability at city hall. Bellamy is a long time resident and residential builder, owner of Bellamy Homes. The boutique company specializes in residential home design, construction management, and building site evaluation. https://www.votebellamy.ca/
Kelowna real estate broker and property tax advisor Tim Down https://www.timdown.ca/ is seeking a seat on Kelowna council. Down said his campaign will focus on practical judgment, fiscal responsibility and measurable results. Unlike some others running for council, Down's background is verifiable. He has advanced skills and extensive career experience in ICI property management, something the City of Kelowna surely needs. The string of dodgy Tom Dyas real estate deals on the taxpayer dime would give a man like Tim Down migraines. Here. (tim@pacwestrealestate.ca)
Lee-Ann Tiede, https://lee-anntiede.ca/ who has served three terms as school trustee, has declared for Kelowna councillor. (info@lee-anntiede.ca) The move up the food chain seems a natural progression for Tiede. Central Okanagan school trustees gave themselves a raise in 2026. Eyebrows were raised on the optics of handing themselves raises while the Central Okanagan Public Schools is facing a $4.2 million deficit in the 2026-27 budget. Lee-Ann Tiede was the lone trustee to oppose the resolution.
Kelowna businesswoman Teresa May (https://www.teresamay.ca/) is seeking a spot on city council. “I am not running to be a career politician,” she said. “I am running because I care deeply about our community.” May has made her bones as a long-time community volunteer. May is married to local builder Peter Teschner of Cherry Lane Homes.

Several candidates escaped our councillor radar.
Nikki Csek https://www.nikkicsek.com/ (info@nikkicsek.com) and her husband are the founders of marketing and branding agency Csek Creative. KelownaNow is a division of Csek Creative. We have a personal bias against her hubby and state that up front. As far as Nikki Csek herself goes, our only problem is the fact she is a charter member of the 'old girls club' in Kelowna. A vote for Nikki Csek may or may not result in any change at City Hall.
Davis Kyle. https://www.kyleforkelowna.ca/ (kyleforkelowna@gmail.com) The problem for Davis Kyle is not good intentions. He has those. What he faces will be concerns about his age and lack of professional background and experience. That is a double edged sword. Old geezers might reject him out of hand. They vote. If Davis Kyle can motivate younger voters in Kelowna to get off their asses and vote this year, his prospects rise.
Indy Dhial. https://www.indydhial4kelowna.com/ (info@indydhial4kelowna.com) The life long Kelowna resident and family man may be a perfectly fine councillor.

A singular photo screams caution. ANY connection to Canco Petroleum and the Khalistani behind them is all bad. Dhial ought not be touting that connection in his materials, its a red flag. Doing so, he now needs to be asked about his stance on the Khalistani issue. If he is a backer of Khalistani interests he is no improvement to the previous all bad Kelowna council.
Trevor McAleese. https://www.trevorforkelowna.ca/ (finance@trevorforkelowna.ca) Trevor McAleese is not a professional politician, he is a life long resident who knows what working for a living is all about. Some will pan his age and perhaps his professional background. What sets McAleese apart is his courage and insight.

He puts that up front and center. "I’m here to work for you on Kelowna City Council because I believe council’s job is to prioritize people, not property developers." Indeed Trevor McAleese. You have been taking notes and aren't afraid to have an opinion.

Local lawyer and realtor Bal Grewal has announced he will run for Kelowna City Council in the 2026 municipal election. Grewal previously ran for council in 2022, finishing with 6,861 votes, or 14th in a race for eight seats. He also ran for the B.C. United Party and lost.

This may be his year as several current councillors are being fingered as bums. More candidates for council are expected.
1 term councillor Rick Webber knows a good grift when he participates in one. Webber has voted in complete lockstep with Tom Dyas on every issue. The man contributes nothing, is rarely interviewed, and virtual nobody cares that he's running again. He is well known and proven as a Dyas bumboy.

Like Mohini Singh, he is a former reporter, and that he figures makes him highly qualified to do whatever it is he pretends to do. “Council decisions should be based on what’s best for Kelowna residents ..." Indeed Mr. Webber. You should listen to yourself some day.

Unsuccessful 3 time council candidate JC Rathwell declared for Kelowna council, to the surprise of nobody. After dishing up a great deal of piss poor and insulting AI (his latest scheme), JC Rathwell will tout his AI business as he loses another election.

https://voteformeordont.com/
Rick Maddison gathered some Kelowna names and purports to be researching council candidates. Here.
Rick Maddison is another 'award winning' journalist, like Mohini Singh and Rick Webber. He claims to have run 'Tempest Media' for 20 years. There is no evidence it exists. 6 years ago he admitted he was going broke. The website/blog is toasted.

Maddison's previous claim to greatness is the failed VSE PoS Pathfinder Ventures Inc. RV.v is halted and a 100% wipe out. We say Rick Maddison is as full of shit as JC Rathwell, and that takes some doing. Whatever he is spewing about now is more conman bullshit. He touted the well financed Basran as his bestus selection in the last election. That would be another large red flag for the dodgy Rick Maddison.
Kelowna voters deserve better than JC Rathwell and Rick Maddison.
