![]() | "Denciti is a Vancouver-based development company that has been a member of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce since 2022. In June 2023, the Chamber publicly came out against the city council's move to change the land-use designation of KSGC back to "private recreational" from "industrial". "TD Benefits is also a member of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. Tom Dyas is listed on the TD Benefits website (employee benefits specialists) as president of the company. Since the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce (KCC) is a direct customer of Tom's through their Chamber of Commerce group insurance plan, does this not leave him and his company open to potential influence and possible conflict of interest?" |
| The citizen raises a valid point. Tom Dyas has a financial interest in following the wishes of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce as he does business with it. TD Benefits is the exclusive advisor for the Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan, offering employee benefits and insurance. "I, for one, believe he is in serious conflict and should recuse himself from any further discussions, negotiations or votes regarding this matter." | ![]() |
The citizen also points out another truth - the sweetheart agreements that the City of Kelowna have entered into with Denciti have occurred in a secretive process that excluded public view. Tom Dyas has embraced his conflict of interest. This space has long suspected a deeper conflict.
